An Easy (NO PREP) Informative Writing Unit!
Are you looking for an engaging way to teach Informative Writing? Are you not sure how to teach the Common Core standards for Informative Writing?
This is for you!
I remember my first year – I wish I had a resource like this to walk me through teaching writing mini-lessons to my students. I struggled with writing. I didn’t know how to teach each standard, how to confer, or how to help move them through the writing process.
I have made it super easy for you to teach an effective Informative Writing unit with NO PREP!
With this unit, you will be able to relax and use my teacher slideshow to help you teach those mini-lessons. You will be able to focus on helping your students during their write time and conferring with them on each day’s topic.
This unit is all about researching a state. It can be your own state or a different state. I encourage my students to pick a state they haven’t been to yet, but would like to visit.
Here’s what I have included in this unit:
•Access to Google Drive Documents
•Applicable Standards
•Teacher Directions and Lesson Walkthroughs
•Teacher Slideshow
•Note Taking Page
•Drafting Page
•Introduction and Conclusion Page
•Revision Checklist
•Editing Checklist
•Rubric
•Conferring Form
•Example Writing
The Best Part? All of the documents are included as PDFs and PPT/Word. You can edit these pages to fit your classroom OR you can use them as PDFS as is.
Are you doing Distance Learning or Hybrid Learning? Good news! All of the student documents are included as Google Slide documents and are ready for you to assign to your Google Classroom.
My students love this unit and it is amazing to see their writing progress through the mini lessons.
